Merry Christmas!

A great day to start, right? My wife and I beat around the idea for this blog yesterday, Christmas eve. This morning, my 4-year-old Jack woke me up at 3. Haven't been able to get back to sleep. So here's the launch point--sleep deprivation.

As far as guys go, this is a pretty good reason to do something. A great many scientific and accidental discovery have been made on a lack of sleep. I'm assuming. I mean, Einstein had to pull a few all-nighters to come up with his relativity formula, right? And there had to be days of crossing mountain ranges for ancient military generals. Don't tell me Hannibal kept 9 to 5 hours when he crossed the Alps into Italy.

Or buying that Elf on the Shelf that's supposed to keep the kids in line during December. Seemed like a good idea at the time, right? The thing's supposed to  appear magically in a new place in the house each morning and report back to Santa during the night. But most of these elves report back that they spent the day in a paper bag once they were discovered. A creepy toy that leaves at night then sneaks back in before everyone wakes up? I don't think that's really in the spirit of Christmas.

So Merry Sleep-Deprived Christmas to all parents today! The Elf on the Shelf can't save you now.
